EMERGENCY WORK SET FOR STATE ROUTE 99 BETWEEN MORADA AND HARNEY LANES IN SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY FOR
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2007

San Joaquin County –The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close two northbound lanes of State Route 99 from Morada to Harney Lanes in San Joaquin County for emergency road work on Thursday, September 20, 2007.

Crews will close the lanes beginning at 8 a.m. Work crews will continue to work on the repairs throughout the day and into the evening until the area is sealed with a thin layer of asphalt concrete.

Motorists can expect up to 45 minute delays and should plan to use alternate routes such as I-5 whenever possible.

The area to be repaired is part of a project to install median barrier and change the existing slope of the roadway to allow drainage to the outside shoulder from the center median. Work crews spent this week grinding the roadway for repaving operations (scheduled for next week) however; the exposed sections are unexpectedly shredding and leaving loose aggregate on the roadway.
