FULL HIGHWAY CLOSURE - STATE ROUTE 99 WHITMORE INTERCHANGE PROJECT IN STANISLAUS COUNTY

Stanislaus County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close northbound State Route 99 (SR-99) from the Pine Street overcrossing to Hatch Road in Ceres.

Work will begin on Monday, July 12, 2010, through Thursday, July 16, 2010, from 11:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m.

Crews will work on the falsework for the new interchange.

SR-99 northbound detour is:

• northbound off-ramp to 4th Street;
• Continue north on El Camino Avenue;
• Cross Whitmore Avenue to the new on-ramp to northbound SR-99.

This full highway closure is necessary to ensure the safety of motorists and workers in the area.

Motorists should expect 10 minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible. This work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change based on weather conditions.

The contractor for this $26 million project is Nehemiah Construction of Benicia, CA. The SR-99 Whitmore Avenue Interchange Project will alleviate peak hour congestion along Whitmore Avenue with a new wider overcrossing/overhead and widen Whitmore Avenue to four lanes from Blaker Road and Central Avenue.
